About

On a daily basis I juggle the hats of project manager, enterprise architect and vendor manager.  I’ve been an IT nerd for as long as I can remember and have earned a living as a software developer, business analyst and development manager amongst other things.  I have a passion for creating systems and processes that solve problems and I have satisfied this passion by building my career either writing – or enabling others to write software in a wide variety of industries; this means figuring out cool ways to analyse and extract value from large sets of data, making enterprise applications talk to each other, streamlining processes etc.  I have absolutely no attention span to speak of and am a fellow N.A.D.D sufferer.

Understand this and you’ll understand me.

I started out as a code monkey although I always wanted to be the one to solve all the problems and teach others how to implement the solutions. This drive to find new challenges and more complex problems led me from junior developer through business analyst to software development manager. In this time I have found that I’m an exceptional strategic thinker who lives “outside the box” and that I’m most at home with ink-stained hands in front of a whiteboard. I add value in any meeting you put me in and I can have meaningful conversations with exectives even though I’m a nerd.

I would make a really good CTO or head of R&D.

I dislike boredom and writing documentation. I’m also not very good with stupid people.

No one pays me to say or not say anything on this blog.  (I don’t blame them!)  I do however recognise that every person excercises some measure of self censorship in that they will only say that which would not harm them either personally or professionally.  I will at all times attempt to keep any biases out of my writings, however I don’t apologise for letting my opinion be known.
